East Broadway Elementary School: A Message From The Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
I want to take this opportunity to thank the East Broadway families for making this school year a wonderful experience for all. We have worked together to make the best learningenvironment for our children. The parental support has been outstanding. There is always something exciting happening at East Broadway. The shows, the fairs, the activities, and the parties have all been well planned and well received by the children. It is apparent that the community truly values education.
As this school year comes to a close, and the summer approaches, I want to remind you that East Broadway teachers will continue to Make Every Minute Count. Over the next couple of weeks, the children will participate in health lessons that focus on communicable diseases and how to avoid transmitting them to one another. Conversations regarding personal safety when helping others will be discussed. We ask that you continue these lessons at home.In addition, summer safety will also be discussed in the classes.
Reorganization of Classes for 2018-2019
I have received many parent letters sharing their concerns regarding their child's placement for next year. In the letter that went home inviting you to share your concerns, it notes that specific teachers may not be requested. Several of the notes I received have requested a specific teacher. I want to explain again why these requests will not be granted. All elementary school teachers have a license that allows them to teach many grades. Depending on the school year, number of students in the grade, school needs, as well as district needs, teachers may be changed from year to year. It is for these reasons that teachers cannot be requested. You may be requesting a
teacher that may not be teaching at East Broadway next year or in a grade that doesn't affect your child. Therefore, requests of this nature will not be honored.
Walker Dismissal Routines:
In an effort to ensure that all students get home safely, we are requesting that students go directly home with their caregiver. Now that the weather is nice, students are remaining on the lawn and it is difficult to supervise all of the students at this time. You are invited to come back later in the afternoon and your children may enjoy the playground under your supervision. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter. WE CONTINUE TO REQUIRE THAT ALL DISMISSAL CHANGES BE MADE IN WRITING TO THE TEACHER.
Finally, I would like to wish all of you a wonderful summer vacation. Remember to read, visit with friends and family and Make Every Minute Count!
