Compliment Day at Gardiners Ave.
Mrs. Suriano's class celebrated Compliment Day on January 24th by learning all about what a compliment is and how complimenting someone makes you and the other person feel good!
As an introduction to the topic, the students listened to a read-aloud from our Journeys' text called Turtle, Frog and Rat. This story supplied the students with examples of compliments and gave them background knowledge to start our discussion.
Then each student received a compliment from their teacher and a list of words that can be used to compliment someone. The students then wrote compliments for each other and shared them. To summarize the lesson, the students were read, How Full is Your Bucket by Tom Rath and were introduced to the new bucket system in the classroom where they can write compliments to each other and fill each other's invisible buckets and make each other feel good about themselves!
