Before the end of the school year, Lee Road Elementary School students and staff explored the careers of canine officers during an engaging presentation in the school gymnasium. The officers spoke about how they each serve in the U.S. Canine Border Patrol unit out of John F. Kennedy airport and work with trained dogs that help detect dangerous travelers, contraband and agricultural irregularities.
Students watched as each officer and their dog
demonstrated how they detect irregularities. Students were encouraged to ask questions as they learned all about the training process and the different dog breeds that work in the unit. It was a great presentation for all!
