Northside Students Participate in "Piano Festival"
Northside School was represented by 28 entries this year at the Piano Festival in March, held at Nassau Community College, and at the Spring Solo Evaluation Festival in May, held in our own Levittown School District at Jonas Salk Middle School. These festivals are sponsored by the New York State School Music Association known as NYSSMA.

Salk Graduates Begin a New Academic Chapter
Parents and faculty welcomed Salk Middle School students with great pride as they entered the gymnasium for the annual moving up ceremony. After class officer Julie Magliano led the salute to the flag, the eighth-grade chorus, under the baton of Lisa Levenberg, sang the national anthem.
Who Is Your Hero?
Tears of joy resonated through Summit Lane's cafeteria as second-graders in Christine Pace's class honored a VIP in their lives during the annual Hero Celebration. The students collectively sang songs to their guests and read a personalized letter about their hero's most impressive qualities and why he or she is important to them. After reading their report at the podium, the students presented their heroes with an elaborately designed booklet, which included photos pictured with their hero, the personalized letter and research.
Spanish Class-Here We Come
Fourth graders in Mrs. Cavanaugh's class, from East Broadway School, were treated to a Spanish lesson this morning.
Studying Nature's Greatest Decomposers
During their monthlong study of earthworms, kindergarten students in Christine Wilkinson's class at Lee Road School not only learned how to care for nature's greatest decomposers, they created an earthworm habitat by preparing a compost bin.
